HADJOD : STRENGTHEN THE BONES

 Hey friends 🙏🏻 Welcome to the new blog of Rubaru! Today let's study about Hadjod( हाड़जोड़ ). You may wonder hadjod? Whats that? Well its a plant, yes you read it right.

The scientific name of hadjod is Cissus Quadrangularis which is a perennial plant of the grape family.. Its found in nature in Tropical Asia, Arabia and Africa.

Its commonly called as Veldt Grape/Devils Backbone/Adamant Creeper/Asthisamharaka( In ayurveda)/ Hadjod( In Hindi) and pirandai(  in Tamil).Its mainly used to help rejoin broken bones. Its also called as bonesetter.


Its fleshy and cactic in nature.In many landguages, it has got different names like:

Hindi: Kandvel, Harsankari

Bengali:Hasjora, Horjora

Kannada: Mungarahalli

Malyalam: Harsankar

Tamil: Vajravalli

Many of us do not read about this gift of nature. We people have some chronic diseases like gastritis which happens suddenly and when we pop a pill in morning, we are satisfied that the acidity wont form but it becomes chronich. In ayurveda, from old age, Vajravalli is considered a boon for gastritis. This plant has panch dravya( 5 elements) which is considered as a digestive aid. The sara relieves constipation.

The athiyuk strenghthens bones. This plant helps in treatment of asthma. The hadjod plant is dried and burnt to ashes and powdered. The word hadjod in hindi means" haddiyo ko jodne wala" which means to help join broken bones.

The hadjod is used for all digestive disorders like indigestion, gastrointestinal treatments. It also supports healing fractures.

It acts like an analgesic ( used to relieve pain) and act as a painkiller.It has anti- inflammatory properties. Its is osteoporotic.

It has strong antioxidants. Its anti-ulcer and used to decrease gastric secretions.

Its used in bone- healing as it contains rich content of calcium, phoshorous and so it helps in early regeneration of bones.

Also used for central nervous system problems. The root extract of hadjod is used for curing depression. It reduces swelling when the paste is applied on bones.

The stem is used for treating piles and its juice used for bleeding of nose.

The benefits of hadjod:

1.It act as a painkiller.

2.It reduces swelling of the gums.

There are some side -effects like it increases acidity as ita hot in nature. It can cause headaches and sleeping disorders.

As we a saw that every part of hadjod is useful be it stem or the root, this plant is overall a gift of nature to the human beings. Like hadjod, there are many plants, which we mighy have ever seen or if we have seen the plant, we don't know about its beneficial qualities.

श्रीखंड महादेव यात्रा ( शिव मंदिर )

  Shrikhand Mahadev is a hindu pilgrimage site in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Its abode of Lord Shiva and consort of goddess Parvati. Its one of the toughest treks in India. The 75 ft Shivalinga at the top of the mountain of height 18,570 .This is an important place for the devotees of Lord Shiva. The journey is called" Shrikhand Mahadev Kailash Yatra ". This journey takes places mainly in Sawan. Its situated on hill and the Shivalinga is of 75 ft. The journey starts from the base of Jaun village of Himachal Pradesh. And from there is 32 km walk to the top of Shrikhand. The whole route is quite dangerous. The journey is tougher than Amarnath Yatra. Only above 15 years of age people can take part in the lord shiva journey or trek. There is a statue of Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Swami Kartik above 50 before the visit of Shrikhand Mahadeva.
